"When design exceeds standard limits, engineering becomes part of the creative process."
01
THE CHALLENGE
The project involved the development of a bespoke ventilated terracotta façade featuring large-format custom elements and a highly articulated architectural pattern for a luxury flagship store in Las Vegas. The scale and weight of the terracotta modules introduced significant structural and installation challenges, particularly due to the limited site access and the need to maintain extremely high architectural precision throughout the façade system.

02
THE SOLUTION
Frame Projects supported the development of the façade from concept to construction, engineering bespoke support systems, developing 3D models, structural FEM analyses and installation strategies capable of transforming the architectural vision into a buildable reality. Particular attention was dedicated to façade logistics, lifting strategies and the coordination between production, structural requirements and site installation constraints, ensuring a fully integrated development process.

03
Engineering buildability into oversized terracotta façades. Where logistics become part of the façade design process.
Dedicated lifting solutions and support systems were integrated directly into the façade design to allow installation within extremely restricted site conditions while maintaining structural integrity and architectural precision. The engineering process combined structural validation, mock-up coordination and installation planning, ensuring that the façade could be manufactured, transported and installed safely despite the unusually large dimensions and weight of the terracotta elements.

04
From concept development to mock-up validation.
The project included mock-up coordination, structural verification, shop drawings and production support. Every phase of the development process was carefully coordinated to ensure that the façade system remained aligned with the original architectural intent while satisfying demanding structural, manufacturing and logistical requirements associated with a high-end retail environment.

05
CONCLUSIONS
Boucheron Rodeo Drive demonstrates how specialist façade engineering can transform complex architectural concepts into fully coordinated, manufacturable and buildable façade systems. The project highlights the importance of integrating engineering, logistics and production strategy into the façade development process from the earliest stages in order to deliver bespoke architectural solutions without compromising feasibility or performance.
