"The most effective façade systems emerge from the balance between performance, tolerances and buildability."
01
THE CHALLENGE
The project required the evaluation of multiple façade strategies for large brick façade bands integrated within a complex refurbishment project in central London. Existing structural tolerances and challenging installation logistics made traditional façade approaches difficult to manage efficiently. The engineering challenge was not limited to façade performance, but also included installation sequencing, scaffold requirements, structural tolerances and construction efficiency within a constrained urban site.

02
THE SOLUTION
Frame Projects supported the development of a prefabricated façade strategy based on brick-faced precast systems capable of simplifying installation, managing structural tolerances and reducing on-site logistical complexity. The engineering activities included technical coordination between supplier, façade contractor and project stakeholders, together with the adaptation of an existing façade product into a fully compliant system suitable for a tier-one construction environment.

03
"Engineering façade systems around real construction constraints. When tolerances and logistics become design drivers."
The engineering process focused on adjustable support systems, prefabricated façade elements and installation strategies capable of adapting to the existing building tolerances while optimising installation efficiency within a constrained urban construction site. Mock-up activities, pull-out testing and technical coordination were integrated into the process to ensure that the façade system could satisfy the quality, durability and performance expectations of a large-scale London refurbishment project.

04
From product adaptation to tier-one façade delivery.
The project included mock-up development, pull-out testing, reinforcement integration, laboratory coordination and technical support throughout production and installation phases. Frame Projects acted as a technical bridge between supplier, contractor and project requirements, ensuring that the façade solution evolved into a robust and fully coordinated system suitable for a demanding construction environment.

05
CONCLUSIONS
Olympia Emberton House demonstrates how façade engineering can bridge the gap between product development, construction logistics and large-scale project delivery. The project highlights how technical coordination, prefabrication strategies and installation planning can significantly improve buildability and façade performance within highly constrained urban refurbishment conditions.
"True innovation lies in making complex systems reliable under real construction conditions."
